CHRIS BRITTON - HC/DC
Coach Britton has been on staff since 2001 and has served as Head Coach since 2014. He is an alum from the Class of ‘93 and brings a strong connection to the program and community. Coach Britton teaches math at the high school and is a graduate of West Chester University. During his time as head coach, he has led the program to six Central League championships, one District championship, and over 100 career wins. He lives in Garnet Valley with his wife, Michelle, their sons Chase and Owen, and their dog, Blue.
LOU D’ALONZO - OC
Coach D’Alonzo just finished 5th season with the Springfield football program and his fourth as Offensive Coordinator, while also coaching the Offensive Line. The son of longtime coach and defensive coordinator Lou D’Alonzo Sr., he is a graduate of Interboro High School, where he played under Coach Lennox, and graduated from Temple University. Throughout his coaching career, D’Alonzo has coached offensive line, defensive line, defensive backs, running backs, inside linebackers, and tight ends, with stops at Sun Valley, Chichester, Garnet Valley, and Interboro before coming to Springfield.
DAN PLANK - JV HC/RB/OLB
Coach Plank is a 2003 graduate of Springfield High School and a lifelong member of the Springfield football community. He was a student-athlete in both football and lacrosse before beginning his coaching career at St. Francis. He later returned to Springfield High School, where he has been part of multiple Central League championship teams as well as a District championship program. Coach Plank has worked with running backs, outside linebackers, and the JV program during his coaching tenure. He is also an active member of the Springfield Athletic Association (SAA) and serves as the Director of Springfield Youth Lacrosse. He resides in Springfield with his wife, Christine, his sons Daniel and Matthew, and their dog, Georgie Lu.
ADAM KRAUTER - OL/DL
Coach Krauter is a 2015 Springfield alum and standout former Cougar, earning 2014 Daily Times Football Player of the Year honors after a dominant senior season on both sides of the ball. He continued his playing career at Kutztown University, where he contributed as a defensive end and scholar-athlete while bringing the same work ethic and leadership he showed in high school. Coach Krauter now coaches both Offensive Line and Defensive Line for his alma mater.
JESSE JAMES - RB/LB
Coach James, class of 2006, is a member of our coaching staff whose competitive drive and leadership were forged on the playing fields of Springfield High School. A three-year starter in both lacrosse and football. Coach James primarily works with our running backs and linebackers, bringing a defensive mindset, toughness. His passion for developing disciplined, physical players continues to make a strong impact on our program.

CHRIS DIRENZO - WR/DB
Coach DiRenzo is a lifelong Springfield resident whose coaching career began in 2001 with the Springfield Youth Club. Over the course of 16 years at the youth level, he built a strong foundation in player development, fundamentals, and fostering a love for the game. In 2017, he transitioned to the high school ranks, bringing his experience and passion to programs at Penncrest High School and Cardinal O'Hara High School. In 2022, he proudly joined his hometown program, continuing his commitment to developing student-athletes and building long lasting relationships.
KYLE LONG - JV DC/WR/DB
Coach Long, a member of the Springfield High School Class of 2018, was a standout multi-sport athlete in both football, basketball, and lacrosse. On the field, he was a two-way starter who earned 1st Team All-Delco honors in 2017 and helped Springfield capture the Central League Championship that season. While on the lacrosse field he was a two-time High School All-American who helped lead the Cougars to back-to-back PIAA state championships in 2016 and 2017. Long continued his lacrosse career at the University of Maryland, where he was a three-year starting midfielder and a key contributor to the Terrapins’ 18-0 national championship season in 2022. He is now entering his fourth season on the Springfield coaching staff.

STEVE LENNOX - QB
Coach Lennox brings decades of experience and a record of sustained success to the Springfield coaching staff. A legendary head coach at Interboro and Dickinson (DE), where he engineered and unstoppable offense, recording 331 career wins and 16 Del Val Championships, ranking him as one of the winningest coaches in Delco history. Coach Lennox brings invaluable experience and a championship mindset that continue to elevate the Springfield football program.
MIKE D'ESPOSITO - ILB
Coach D’Esposito, better known as “D-Rock”, brings extensive defensive experience and championship-level leadership to the Springfield coaching staff. He served as the defensive coordinator at Interboro alongside Coach Lennox, helping build one of the most respected and consistently successful programs in Delco. Coach D’Esposito adds invaluable knowledge and a tough, disciplined mindset to the Springfield program.
